| Interested in Metal Detecting? This is your local club and we have been searching all around the Highlands for 28 years. We go out detecting once a month to places with permission from the landowner and we meet as a social group every three months in Inshes Church. At minimum we can offer excitement ,exercise & education. We have all ages in the club, ladies & gents, and the full range of capabilities from absolute beginners, semi experienced to old hands. Free tuition and equipment loan if needed. You must have your own transport, and be over 18. The meeting place for each dig is at the actual dig itself, all members are issued with a very detailed map and written instructions how to get there.

Please Note.. we are fully subscribed with members at present (May 2018), and have a waiting list. Anyone really wishing to try it would have to have membership of the FID or NCMD (can be found by googling) which gives liability insurance etc at a minimal cost, and could contact a club member to arrange a day's trial, cost £4. Most digs happen on a Sunday.

| The Highland Family History Society promotes the study of genealogy, family history and related subjects in the Highlands of Scotland. We try to fulfil our remit by collecting and publishing information that will help anyone researching their family’s history in the Highlands, by providing help and advice to those just starting their research, and by encouraging researchers to join the society and share the fruits of their researches with other members through our monthly talks, our ever-expanding website, and our colourful quarterly journal. | The Inverness Civic Trust is an independent voluntary body made up of citizens who have an interest in both conserving and enhancing the general environment of the City. It was established in November 1967 to stimulate public interest in the history and character in Inverness and its surrounding area, to encourage preservation and development of features of public amenity and historic interest and to encourage high standards of architecture and town planning. Everyone is very welcome to our meetings, members or not. If there is a speaker or subject that interests or concerns you, please do not hesitate to come along.

| There are open meetings for the whole group fortnightly. Sometimes a guest speaker entertains us, or the afternoon might feature a poetry reading, a DVD or a quiz. Afterwards, we enjoy a wee blether over tea and biscuits, and catch up with group news. There is also a small group library. We also have special outings from time to time, such as our popular New Year lunch. Our groups include French, History, Italian, Lunch Group, Mah Jong, Photography, Quiz and Games, Scottish Country Dancing, Scrabble and Sewing Bee. Joining is simple - just come along to one of our open meetings and pay at the door. New members are welcome at any time. Non-members are welcome to attend any speaker meetings that interest them. However, our study groups are for members only.

| This is an organisation for all those interested in archaeology, whether just starting, or a professional archaeologist. All are welcome! NOSAS is actively involved with many different archaeological activities in the Highlands. We organise field trips and monthly evening discussion group meetings during the winter for members. In the summer we are often involved in our or other people's digs, developing our excavation skills. Training in field skills is a core part of what we do. Our activities are open to members, everyone is welcome to join.
